文武二帝廟約於一百多年前由大埔七約鄉民合力興建，以紀念現位於富善街的太和市落成，該址現時通常稱為大埔墟。該廟於一九八五年由七約鄉公所進行修葺，政府則提供專業意見及資助部分修葺費用。
