The Kowloon Walled City Park is one of the most historic sites in Hong kong, one of the few remnants of what was a garrison town built by the Qing government in 1847 as a military outpost. The area became a lawless enclave after WWII until 1987, when the Chinese Government agreed to have the slum demolished. Among the relics preserved is the Yamen building, a three-hall structure that was originally the administrative headquarters. The Park is open 6:30am-11pm daily.

一八四七年，清廷修建九龍寨城，駐兵數百，以加強海防。寨城衙門，原為九龍司巡檢辦公地方，深三進，二進為公堂，後進為官邸。自一八九九年清朝官兵撤離寨城後，衙門曾被不同的教會團體租用，先後作老人院、孤兒寡婦所、學校、醫務所等用途。一九八七年政府宣布清拆寨城，於原址興建公園，衙門得以保留並全面復修，成為公園內的重要古蹟。

Directions:
Bus 1 from Kowloon Star Ferry Pier, and alight at Tung Tau Tsuen Road (opposite the park). Or Lok Fu MTR Exit B, then either take a short taxi ride to the park, or walk along Junction Road and Tung Tau Tsuen Road (about 20 minutes).
