A visit to the Hong Kong Correctional Services Museum in Stanley affords an intriguing glimpse of prison life in Hong Kong over the past 160 years. The museum showcases the evolution of the Hong Kong penal system from one that originally focused on punishment as a deterrent to the present system that promotes the rehabilitation of prisoners.

The museum, inside the Correctional Services' Staff Training Institute, features a mock gallows, two imitation cells and stylised guard tower on top of the building. Nine galleries feature some 600 artifacts and exhibits covering the history and development of the prison system, punishment and imprisonment, staff uniforms and insignia, Vietnamese boat people, homemade weapons and more. There is a souvenir shop on the G/F selling items like badges.

如何前往香港懲教博物館
1. 港鐵香港站D出口步行至中環交易廣場巴士總站乘搭 6、6X 或260線巴士，於赤柱監獄下車。博物館位於巴士站對面。
2. 於廣東道新港中心外乘973線巴士，在赤柱市集巴士總站下車沿東頭灣道步行約十分鐘。

位於赤柱的香港懲教博物館，展示160多年來香港懲教制度的演變，由以往透過嚴懲犯人以收阻嚇作用，發展至現今以幫助犯人展開新生為目的。


博物館位於懲教署職員訓練學院內，館內規劃九間展覽室，展出600餘件與香港懲教服務有關的文物，包括一座模擬絞刑台和兩間模擬囚室，屋頂更設有模擬監獄瞭望塔，記載了香港懲教制度、刑罰，以及懲教人員制服、徽號等的歷史和演變過程。


館內還展出了越南船民的生活、自製武器及其他寶貴資料。參觀完畢，還可以到禮品店買點紀念品。

How To Get There
Hong Kong Correctional Services Museum
1. MTR Hong Kong Station Exit D and take bus 6, 6X or 260 at Exchange Square bus terminus and get off at Stanley Prison. The Museum is opposite to the bus stop.
2. Bus 973 from Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui outside Silvercord Centre and alight at the Stanley Market Bus Terminus and then walk for 10 minutes.
